In 2019, UNSW Sydney released its first Environmental Sustainability Plan 2019–21.
Since then, we have achieved a lot, including introducing Plastic Free Dining, new recycling systems, switching to 100% solar renewable electricity, and achieving net zero operational emissions.
However, our planet is at a critical point and the window to address the climate crisis is rapidly closing. Tackling waste, protecting biodiversity and transforming the built environment are part of the story, too. We need to act now to ensure a liveable future.
Drawing on input from our staff, students and the broader community, our Environmental Sustainability Plan 2022–24 is UNSW's blueprint for action across our operations.
