Sir William Tyree, OBE, a UNSW alumnus, successful innovator and businessman, and a major philanthropic supporter of Australian engineering and educational research, donated $1m to the centre and has pledged a further bequest of $10m. For more information or visit Facilities Management.
The Tyree Energy Technologies Building (TETB) is a beacon for renewable energy and is the new home of energy research at UNSW.
This landmark, 6-Star energy-efficient building is a state-of-the-art powerhouse of world-leading research, education and industry collaboration in the development and practical implementation of sustainable energy technologies.
The TETB’s laboratories support the ongoing research of our researchers in world record-breaking solar photovoltaic technologies, sustainable clean fuels, smart grids, energy storage, energy economics and policy analysis.
The TETB is also an educational hub for undergraduate and postgraduate students, providing an optimal learning environment for the expert engineers and analysts who will shape our energy future.
The TETB was supported by $75m in funding under the federal government’s Education Investment Fund.
