With almost 60,000 students and over 6000 staff and a variety of facilities, we produce over 3000 tonnes of waste each year, so we have to tackle our waste management head-on.
We are aspiring to conserve energy, introduce renewable energy and reduce our greenhouse gas emissions. This helps preserve natural resources and reduce our rising energy costs.
At uni, we can get as much water as we want just by turning on a tap. It’s the same at home, though we rarely have the opportunity to learn how our own behaviour is helping with more sustainable outcomes.
Every weekday more than 60,000 trips are made to and from work and study at our Kensington campus. The challenge for sustainable transport increases with growing student and staff numbers.
Our beautiful and welcoming campus grounds are planned, planted and maintained with the local environment and ecology in mind. We minimise the use of toxic chemicals, protecting wildlife habitat and conserving water and resources.
